straightforward question: is/was your college/university pinko commie or apathetic, or conservative?

From what I've felt, I believe Waterloo is generally apathetic as it's not renowned for poli sci but it's a good deal more conservative than any average university. Perhaps its emphasis on areas like math and computers attracts students who also dislike welfare bums, but most of the time we're too busy debugging code and solving calculus to follow politics in detail (from my econ class it looks like more are following the McCain/Romney/Huckabee/Hillary/Obama race than what's closer to us). Student election turnout last year was in the low teens IIRC.

When I was there, I'd say moderate Republican.

Socially liberal with a strong bleeding heart internationalist streak (makes sense for a school whose greatest strengths are medicine and IR). Not particularly leftist, though.

Anyway UCSD is apathetically liberal.

70% female, 20% gay males, a large proportion of these students seemed to be from Massachusetts or NY.....Young Democrats outnumbered College Republican 4 to 1.  VERY liberal.

This was Mary Washington College in Virginia, in case anyone was wondering

Apathetic...Moderate Republican/Clinton Style Democratic...the administration has swung a bit to the left as of late, dunno if that will be reflected in the student body any time soon.

Heh. Our Students Association elections last year was a four way contest. The Labor right (Innovate for '08) won, Labor left (Us) 2nd, Joke ticket (Young LabOur) 3rd, Liberals (One Campus) 4th.

Mt. St. Marys is one of the more mainstream conservative Catholic colleges in the US.
