The second round of the Atlas President Forever Championship has come to a close. Those who advanced are as follows:

Republicans:                        Democrats:
MHS2002                             Hughento
Mr. Hobbes                          Gabu
Bullmoose88                        ThePrezMex
WMS                                    Nation

My only question now is how to determine the matchups for the next round. I'm looking at 3 options right now, you guys let me know which one you think is best.

Option 1:
Seed players based solely on first round results, which would yield the following matchups:

#1R Bullmoose88 vs. #6D ThePrezMex
#3R Mr. Hobbes vs. #4D Hughento
#5R MHS2002 vs. #2D Gabu
#7R WMS vs. #1D Nation

Option 2:
Seed players based solely on second round results, which would yield the following matchups:

#1R MHS2002 vs. #4D: Nation
#2R Mr. Hobbes vs. #3D: ThePrezMex
#3R Bullmoose88 vs. #2D: Gabu
#4R WMS vs. #1D: Hughento

Option 3:
Seed players based on their combined first and second round scores, which would yield the following matchups:

#1R Bullmoose88 vs. #4D ThePrezMex
#2R MHS2002 vs. #3D Hughento
#3R Mr. Hobbes vs. #2D Nation
#4R WMS vs. #1D Gabu

Let me know which method you think would be the most sensible, and most fair.

See the first page of the thread.

I would personally like the situation in option 3 most, but since round 1 was against generic far-left/right candidates whereas round 2 was against real candidates, it would seem to me that the results in round 2 reflect reality more than the results in round 1, so we should go with those (option 2).

I wanted a matchup with you not because I thought you'd lose, but I pretty much know that MHS or Bullmoose would kill me, so I want at least a fighting chance. Tongue

How about:

A) 1r) MHS2002 vs. 2d) Gabu
B) 2r) Mr. Hobbes vs. 1d) Hughento
C) 3r) Bullmoose88 vs. 4d) Nation
D) 4r) WMS vs. 3d) ThePrezMex

then, after the four races, the winners of A) and B) have a round off, and the losers of A) and B) play the winners or C) and D); with the losers of C) and D) eliminated.

So, for example:

MHS2002 defeats Hughento
Gabu defeats Mr. Hobbes
Nation defeats Bullmoose88
WMS defeats ThePrezMex

ThePrezMex and Bullmoose are eliminated, MHS2002 and Gabu are through to the semi-final.

Hughento then plays the winner of C), depending on the result. If the GOPper wins, then thats the race he runs in, but if it's a democrat, he and the democrat who won C) will both play against a slightly harder generic GOPper, who is all SR instead of all R. The best totals for both hm and the Democrtic winner of C) are compared, and the one witrh the better total goes through. This is the same if there is too GOPpers, and also for races B) and D).

After this, you'd have MHS2002, Gabu, and, presuming they won, Hughento and Mr. Hobbes in the semi finals. Here, the Democrats play the GOPpers each 2 times, once with Dynamism and once without, and the best of the two groups go through to the final. If there is only one democrat left, then the three GOPpers play them 45 times each, and the Democrat goes straight through to the final anyway. This is the same if there is only one GOPper left, obviously.

Thn, the final is the best D versus the best R, in a best 7 match tournament, first to 4 winning.

Complex, but fair, imho Cheesy

Hmm...well I'm still not sure about how to go about this next round; I'm still kicking around ideas in my head. That said, round 3 probably won't start until Sunday or Monday as I am preparing to move back to college. The updates won't come as quickly as they have been, but believe me, this will get done.
