what's better about it?

Better user interface (even more so vs IE7 rather than IE6), more secure, greater compliance with html standards, can recover sessions on the rare occasions when it crashes, and a number of other things. The only bad thing is that it can be a bit slower than IE6 if you've got an older, slower machine.
