I think all 3 current threads are for personal choices.....not a "who do you think s/he'll pick" question.

She's also now advising McCain on economic issues.  Who knows, maybe she'll be Secretary of the Treasury if McCain wins.

Reading some of these names that Democrats have listed makes me laugh.  William Cohen, Olympia Snowe, Tom Ridge?  What do all three of these people have in common?  They are all liberal Republicans.  I'm not surprised Democrats would advocate more liberal choices, but I think it's fanciful to believe these people have a good shot at being chosen.

I know these names are personal choices, but going left isn't going to help McCain with his base.  I understand that Independent voters will be a big factor this year, but without the base McCain can't win.  It won't matter how many Independents vote for him.  That's just the way it works in Republican voting.

My top three personal choices

1.  Chris Cox
2.  Bobby Jindal
3.  Mike Pence

The three most likely choices

1.  Tim Pawlenty
2.  Charlie Crist
3.  Mark Sanford

To call Tom Ridge a liberal Republican is pretty laughable. He may be more moderate but he's in no way a liberal.

Agreed, and he would be big plus for McCain in delegate rich PA.

One would think he'd want someone who didn't nearly drive Hewlett-Packard into the ground. But perhaps not; after all, "The economy is not [his] strong point."

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.  If McCain does not pick Romney for VP, and if McCain wins, then he should tap Romney for Secretary of the Treasury.

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford.

Missouri Governor Matt Blunt.

In the interests of the continuity he represents, Dick Cheney or GW Bush.  Third choice would be Bush Senior.

There is no way McCain is going to pick a semi-closeted gay man for his VP, no matter how many electoral votes his state has.

(Or few, in the case of South Carolina.)
