Please post the content of the site, and not just the link.  Seriously, a little effort won't kill you.

Then obviously it isn't worth us reading the troll site to find one itty bitty line about something that "might" impact the election then, huh?  If there is a real chance that someone has found an error somewhere that will result in Obama gaining an extra delegate, then there will be some sort of news article about it, rather than some random poster with a theory.  Right?

MODU, it's the main post at front...there's nothing to read through.

But, yeah, Mississippi is absolutely famous at screwing up election reporting.  Good find on that.  Looks like he's right.

He spent more time typing why he shouldn't read the quote than actually it would take to read it.

I can't view that site from work.  Plus, it is common courtesy to post the link and a portion of the article in question here, rather than requiring people to go on a wild goose chase trying to find out what the originator of the thread is talking about.

The title of this thread is simply incorrect from a logical point of view.  MS is the only place from where Obama could earn an extra delegate, not from the observations of DUers

Actually, Mississippi probably wouldn't have noticed this - these numbers were their final, uncertified results.  Unless someone finds an error, they don't change and are certified.

Mississippi has certified incorrect results countless times before.  DU seems to have managed to actually do something here.

What are the odds Mississippi doesn't listen?

I'd been following the MS returns off and on...the only reason I hadn't caught this is because I'd accidentally transposed the Madison Co. returns (& thus thought Obama was sitting on 60.4% or so).

The final returns from MS show the following (at first glance):

Obama: 265,502
Clinton: 159,221

Obama's at 62.512% of the two-way vote (he appears to have gotten to 3-1 by a 50-vote margin).

The counties at question here are:

Hinds:
Where the county report shows:
43,758 Obama
9,768 Clinton

vs. the recapitulation figure of:

43,416 Obama
9,731 Clinton

The county figure gives Obama an additional margin of 305 votes in Hinds, which is enough to put him over.

Jackson:
County Report:
8,146 Obama
6,315 Clinton

Recapitulation:
8,356 Obama
6,404 Clinton

(the Recapitulation numbers are more favorable to Obama, by 121 votes).

Generally, I'm inclined to trust the figures with the higher vote tally as the more recent & the more accurate, which favors Obama in both counts.

Also in moderate question are the Clarke & Greene County figures, where CNN has more total votes in each county than either the Recapitulation or County figures (including these votes would give 138 net votes to Clinton).

There are some discrepancies that needs to be sorted out, but it looks as though Obama should pick up a delegate from Clinton here.

Oh, and in case anyone cares, the final by-CD breakdowns:

CD 1:
54,358 Clinton
51,135 Obama

(Not included: A very small portion of Winston Co. (less than 30 votes) also in CD 1, not enough to make a difference)

Clinton 3 - Obama 2

CD 2:
103,726 Obama
29,554 Clinton

Obama, with 77.8% of the vote here, narrowly falls short of the 78.6% needed to make this 6-1.

(Not included: a small portion (<40 votes) of Leake County, not enough to make a difference).

CD 3:
66,464 Obama
32,624 Clinton

Obama gets 67.1%, 3% short of the 70% needed to make this 4-1.

(Not included: portions of Leake, Marion, & Winston counties, <1300 votes in total, not enough to make a difference).

CD 4:
43,316 Obama
42,165 Clinton

Obama squeaks out the win here.

(Not included: portions of Marion Co., <350 votes total, not enough to make a difference).

The Democratic Underground is an utter embarrasment to liberals and Democrats everywhere.    And if you're a lib and not embarrased by the DU, then you should.

Not just because the site itself is a chaotic clusterf.uck eyesore, but have you read the health forum?   Half the people on there suffer from some sort of mild mental disorder, start threads  about "self mutilation", chronic depression, etc and I strongly believe the site's horrendous layout is partially responisble for attracting so many wingnuts.

If someone streamlined the site, gave it pizzazz and polish and made it into a regular-looking internet forum, it would start to attract the liberals with brains.
