Warning: Attention Whore Related Topic Ahead

So I think enough people realize that my future plans include a career in politics/government. Eventually (as in possibly a few years from now), I'd like to run for office. I have an office in mind but I'd rather not discuss it so openly now. Let's assume this office requires a bipartisan composition as mandated by a City Charter or State Constitution. I'll make it even more interesting - Let's say that this position wouldn't necessarily be based on legislating. Read into this as far as you'd like. You can guess what the position is (though I'd rather you not do that) but I'm not confirming or denying any guesses.

My question - Would you at least consider voting for me if this type of office required a Republican to hold such a position?

I am fully aware that a number of people don't like me here. You might not like my style or personality or even my ideology (though that really doesn't matter all that much in this type of position) and that's fine but I do ask that this stays civil.

I'd vote for you. The only real criticism I have of you is that it seems sometimes you're unnecessarily confrontational with people, which would probably prove a problem in any elected position (or any job really). I obviously barely know you in the grand scheme of things though, but take from that what you will.

I'd consider it, I can't say that I would but I'd lean toward yes.

I'd vote for you. I think you'd be a good politician Phil.

As for your chances of higher office I think you'd have an easier time if you lived out my way, I could see you doing well in my own PA 4 or in PA 18.

I agree but I think I found what is best for me here.  Smiley

I'm going to try and be as objective as possible.

Pros: Tenacious, Dedicated, Knowledgeable, Pretty Decent Sense of Humor [in my demented view]

Cons: In my view when the debate gets negative you turn it up a notch too far/or gets tempermental (then again, just text on a message board doesn't convey the whole situation), You also seem to take things a bit more personally in negative debates (not to say things haven't gotten personal),

Recommendation: Rather than getting dirty or angry, get funny. Belittling your opponents through humor works far better than anything else...

But you don't have to take my word for it...

Do-doo-do.

Is the Burton image not showing?

As for the question, depends on the office...I tend to be liberal on some issues...as you know...like education, and conservative on say things like taxation (and township/city governance)

Sure.  You're a good guy.  Honest, I think very hardworking, smart.  I wouldn't vote for you for a legislative position because we don't agree on much.  But for something like this, you bet.

Probably, though would you do the same if I were seeking office? Mmmm?

That would suck if we ended up going up against each other. :x

It might not matter at that point.

Just to clear this up since it was a point of discussion in one of the recent Moderator Commentary Audio clips...

Ideally, Specter will be leaving the Senate in 2011 (after losing his 2010 primary). Even if that's not the case, what I meant was that by the time I'm running, I highly doubt Specter would try for another term (hint: it would be towards the end of the next term). Then again, it is Specter so he might be running until he has passed away but I wasn't hinting at that.  Tongue
