While Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton continue to compete against each other in Pennsylvania’s Presidential Primary, both Democrats have opened a lead over John McCain in the Keystone State.

500 Likely Voters,  4/9/08

Very good news. I figured Obama's numbers would go way up as the primary campaign swung into gear.

I agree.  It *may* be an accurate snapshot of PA in early-mid april 2008, its not likely to hold up by Nov.

Dude, it's one poll.  Like everything else is one poll.  When combined, they make up many polls, that we can try and evaluate together and come up with a result that might be accurate for early-mid-April 2008.

The one problem with polling at this time of year in PA has been mentioned before and need not be mentioned again.  Kind of like polling Texas/Ohio in late-February.

Hard to believe anyone is leading PA by 8 points.

It's because they're both campaigning there right now. Remember the polls showing Texas was tied in the general?

The Texas poll had Obama down by 6% or 8%, can't remember which. No poll ever showed it being tied.

Well, Obama has been running ads there virtually unanswered for about two months straight.

I guess this blows the favorite Republican meme out of the water than Obama doesn't stand a chance to win Pennsylvania.

No one said he doesn't stand a chance to win there .. we've said that demographically, it doesn't match up for him and McCain is popular there. Of course he stands a chance in Pennsylvania. I've seen more from the other side claiming McCain doesn't stand a chance there.

This Rasmussen OH poll was done on April 8, the PA poll on April 9. McCain leads Clinton by 5, Obama by 7.
