Most elections in the United States are local elections, but most nuts and bolts books are either about Presidential elections or elections for large/expensive campaigns (Senator, Governor of major states or Mayor of large cities)

Judge Lawrence Grey has the third edition of his book out, How to Win a Local Election (available at Borders) with includes a Disk for forms.

While Judge Grey admits that his book is not all encompassing, it does constitute a relatively balanced view of how local politics really works.

Remember, Tip O'Neill once correctly noted that 'all politics are local.'

I strongly recommend this book.
