Does anyone else think Obama might've already sewn up Gore's endorsement but is having Gore not go public with it until some time when it'd be bigger? Say May 20, or maybe in June as part of a mass group of superdelegates to put Obama over 2025.

Nah, Gore has departed from such secular endeavors.

Well, Obama is no secular politician, so he probably is planning on endorsing him.

I have a prediction:
Gore will endorse during the next negative news cycle against Obama.   Maybe after Rezko says something stupid or NOW makes a vow to have its members never vote for a man again or something.

Like how Edwards served as a diversion from WV? Possibly. Maybe on May 20 to legitimatize Obama declaring victory after being blown away in Kentucky.

Here's some more math though, as I said last night, Obama needs about 50-60 more superdelegates to win this with the delegates he'll win in remaining primaries. Now that's down to 40-50 with Edwards' endorsement, if we give Obama at least 10 of Edwards' 19 delegates (he's already gotten 1 and is pretty much guaranteed 3 Edwards was projected to win statewide in Iowa.) At a rate of 2 superdelegate endorsements a day (what's he's been getting now roughly, and he should get a flood after May 20), he'll close that or come pretty close by June 3. Perhaps Gore might announce as the "leader" of a batch of superdelegates on June 4 to coronate Obama, or maybe declare on the eve of the election (maybe right after Puerto Rico or even right before it) also as the "leader" of a batch of superdelegates, closing the gap enough so that Montana and South Dakota can put Obama over the top, (thus "democraticizing" his victory)

While the Clinton campaign does seem to be winding down, I'm sure the Obama campaign is suspicious and slightly worried about some negative attack/incident/whatever making the news cycle and sticking.  A high-profile endorsement can loosen the negative story and decrease its airtime and certainly create a positive spin on things.

Remember how after the Wright controversy,  Obama kept raking in even more endorsements like Richardson?  It gives the endorser more political capital (since they are not joining the winning bandwagon at that exact second) and Obama far more than if the endorser does so after a big victory.
