They tried like hell to see Obama go down in flames.

They have proved their irrelevance.

I wonder how they're covering their asses now?

How did they want him to go down in flames? If anything, they wanted Hillary stopped during the primary. McCain winning the nomination proves they aren't as relevant anymore, not the Democratic nomination battle.

Why are they any more or less relevant than before?

They generally withheld their endorsements (on the GOP side) until fairly late in the process, and they probably contributed to Romney's big numbers compared to Huckabee.  Interfering in the Democratic primary was a game to them, and they are probably pleased at the length of the contest and the current hard feelings between Clinton and Obama supporters.

We all know they wanted Romney.

But they didn't line up behind him until it was too late and McCain basically had a lock on the nomination. THey flirted with just about every other candidate, from Giuliani to Fred Thompson.

Sure, after the others dropped out.  By then, the race was McCain's to lose.

I always sensed that people like Hannity and Rush were all over Romney from the very beginning.

I think Rush probably liked Fred better.  Not sure about Hannity.

Hugh Hewitt certainly backed Romney from the start, but Michael Medved supported McCain.  They actually went on each other's shows and had a pretty diecent debate.

Hanity was all over Giuliani when he was in the race. Rudy would come on his show all the time while Sean drooled over him and went over his accomplishments, while he brushed his liberal social views under the rug.

Oh, believe me, I know. Maybe he wasn't set on Romney but he and Rudy were clearly Hannity's guys.

Well, I still say Romney is an inferior product and that's why even big-name talk radio hosts couldn't sell him.

Why should they be displeased with McCain?  He is an extreme right winger.

As for what they are saying now, have been saying, and will be saying through to the election:  code words for 'there's a n****r in the woodpile!'.

Obama's not there yet. He may have got into the aircraft, but he's not reached the White House yet and there's plenty of surface-to-air fire waiting for him.
