If Mark Warner had in any interest in running for President why didn't he this year?
How could he have  competed with the Clinton and Obama fundraising juggernauts?

Btw rumor has it tha Hillary blackmailed him out of the race.

Whose rumor?

Sam Spade's.  Apparently, it's "obvious" that someone has some dirt on Warner, and that this was apparent "from the first time Sam saw the guy", or some such thing.

There is something weird about him, I must say.

Yeah, and at least Warner deserves it.

What?  Warner is more capable, and would make a better President, than Barack Obama.

I have a hunch that Obama will win, have a mediocre term, and be vulnerable in 2012. The GOP will respond to this heaven sent opportunity by nominating the one person who could actually lose to an unpopular President: Sarah Palin. Palin runs a nasty and negative campaign, and ends up losing badly.

On the bright side it will open the way for Crist in 2016.

A Warner v. Crist matchup would be great.

Barack Obama (2009-2013)
Mitt Romney (2013-2021)
Mike Pence (2021-2029)

or in my dreams, at least.

I would consider voting for Mark Warner against say, a populist social-conservative, but I'm not 100% sure where Warner stands economically.  I'm sure that will be fleshed out in his coming Senate term.

nice work! haha

Though Huckabee might have me with the Fair Tax.  I plan on reading Boortz's book in the near future to get a better understanding.

Put it this way...if Warner ran against Sarah Palin and Palin claimed the solution to our economic ills to be more regulation and "putting a stop to the corruption and greed on Wall Street"...then I'd consider voting for Warner

I really have no idea how Huck will give us a fair tax. Does he raise taxes on the rest of us or does he give tax cuts to the fat asses (However, many fat asses don't appear fat because they can afford daily liposuction).  In Wyoming, Cynthia Lummis wants a flat tax by the former. The dawn of the tax-and-spend compassionate conservative, anyone? More solvent but even more statist than their unevolved form, the borrow-and-spend compassionate conservative.

From what I understand, the Fair Tax involves an elimination of ALL federal income tax, with the federal government financed by a consumption tax instead.  I could be wrong on this, I haven't really read into it.

He's moderately pro-business, and is basically a Blue Dog Democrat on economics.

My Update:

Barack Obama/Joseph Biden (2009 - 2013)
Michael Huckabee/ John Thune (2013 - 2021)
John Thune/Mike Pence (2021 - 2025)

I'll do a wishful-thinking McCain one if he somehow wins the election.
