Wouldn't it be fascinating if this happened?

What an election that would have been.

McCain                270 EV 50% PV
Obama                268 EV 50% PV

Looks normal to me. Sometimes I wish we had red and blue like it is in the media on this site.

Yeah, I get mixed up sometimes, when I have to switch the colors in my mind.

We can add that to another example in which someone believes Obama can win North Dakota.

North Dakota?  North Carolina?

Please give me a good reason why Obama will win both of those states...

Please note CD-1 in Nebraska and almost winning Montana. Barr will also get 6% nationwide, becoming almost as successful as Perot in 1996.

McCain/Romney (the only reason I gave MA to McCain) 319 57%
Obama/??? 219 41%
Others 3%

Ok, I'm assuming you're joking. The map was somewhat reasonable (with the exception of MA, which I was about to address) but once I saw 57% to 41%...unless you meant 51% to 47%.

That's what I meant - thank you.

But still...winning MA? Even if Romney was still popular there (which he isn't), we're not winning MA.

I like that my map is "hackish" when I clearly explained how I decided it. It's what I think the map will be like in November.

Uh, we all think that our map will be the way it is in November. How does that "clearly explain" your reasoning?

Honestly, why do people think North Dakota will be a nail biter this election cycle? It was over 60% for Bush 4 years ago. Why on earth would it jump that far left in 4 years?

Obama is polling well there so they extrapolate it to the general election. If he lucks out and gets a large margin(10-20%) he could pull off South Dakota which last time I checked was more liberal than North Dakota.

Yeah.  What you want to do is go to the electoral calculator.  When you are done go to "Show Map Link"... this is what I think you did wrong... Once the map link pops up, you want to copy... then hit the right arrow so it drags the cursor until the end of the link.  I have the same problem using Firefox... its a very long link.

I'll be generous to McCain, and will probably turn out wrong but I'll hope for the best! Tongue
