I realized this thread was missing from this forum, surprisingly. OH NOES!

Anyways, Steve had a cabinet shuffle yesterday:

David Emerson (C-BC) kept Foreign Affairs
Christian Paradis (C-QC) got Public Works in addition to Secretary of State for Agriculture
Michael Fortier (C-QC), only non-MP member of the cabinet, moved from Public Works to International Trade (formerly held by Emerson, C-BC).

And Maxime Bernier (C-QC), former Minister of Foreign Affairs, held his first public meeting since the Couillard scandal in his Beauce riding. Apparently people still love him there. Bunch of idiots.

The idea of "cabinet reshuffles" has always amused me. Why move people to positions in which they're not experiences? But I guess that's what you get with a parliamentary cabinet...

Harper is continuing his brownosing of Quebec voters by promoting Quebecois to high posts in government, even though they have no experience at all (unconvinced? Try Max Bernier!).

IIRC, he 'celebrated' the QC national day on June 24. At the same time, the Conservatives were falling back in Quebec polls. Coincidence?

Julie Couillard, Bernier's ex, destroyed him and ate him alive last night on both CBC and Radio-Canada.

According to her, he's an incompetent, stupid, lying, piece of sh**t.

In addition, she said that he was against the war in Afghanistan, believed that global warming was a big fat liberal/ecologist hoax, and made fun of Harper's weight and called him a control freak. At an event in his Beauce constituency, he apparently whispered derogatory and distasteful statements about his constituents.

On the affair of the secret documents, he apparently told her to throw them away. Then he called her to convince her that no secret documents ever existed.

She hates him. Apparently.

Lol.

The scandal appears to be killing the Tories in Quebec, though.

Dion has resigned, but will stay on until May 2009, when a leadership review/now-contest is scheduled.

Two ADQ MNAs, André Riedl (Iberville) and Pierre Michel Auger (Champlain) have crossed the floor from the ADQ to the Liberal Party. This is the first party-to-party floor crossing since 1979, when a UN MNA joined the Liberals.

Iberville is Eastern Townships seat that was Liberal from 2003 until 2007, though the PQ held it in the past and finished second in 2007.

Champlain is right east of Trois-Rivieres and was notable for having a tied election in 2003 (later settled in a by-election that was won by the PQ). The ADQ won the seat by 15% in 2007. The Liberals finished third there too.

Conceivably yes. We're heading for a big Liberal majority in the next election as it goes right now. There's more talk of a snap election too. I wouldn't surprised to see one in early 2009.

Look at recent by-election results for the ADQ and you can answer that yourself.

OCTranspo has rejected the city's contract to end the strike with 64.4% voting no on a turnout of nearly 75%. Therefore, the strike will continue. Apparently, it could now last until January 27, when Steve's long vacation ends so that the federal government could negotiate (OCTranspo is the federal's responsibility, since some routes extend into Hull). However, John Baird, who is supposed to represent Ottawa, says he won't introduce legislation to make OCTranspo a "necessary service" since it would "take too long". What a joke MP.

Some drivers, whose only job is to drive a damn bus, earn more than soldiers, who risk their lives in Afghanistan. Let's fire all these lazy bastards or force them back to work. And destroy Andre Cornellier, the worst union leader in the world.

OCTranspo, making the SNCF look like hard workers.
