Supreme Court Bar

With the passage of the Supreme Court Bar Act, the Senate has formally constituted the Supreme Court Bar.

As the sitting AG, I am happy to be of service to the Court in helping to draft regulations for the Bar if they so wish, and I shall be preparing a list of citizens who I will nominate to the Bar, as the Act allows. Should the Justices wish to contact me regarding this subject, please feel free to do so.

I might add, that if I were representing a defendant, my first bit of advice would be to deregister, and re-register.

He got off on appeal due an apparent fault with the manner in which evidence was attained.
The people, in their infinite wisdom, then decided that they'd make Phil President...and well, I best not speak any more on that subject.

Whist I await the Supreme Court issuing regulations for the Bar and its associated paraphernalia (and again, I extend an open invitation for the Court to contact me if they need assistance), I hereby nominate the following people to the Supreme Court Bar:

1. Make some regulations, or ask with help to make regulations.
2. Admit, or not, the nominations I had made.

Peter - I'll PM the other court members about their admittance.  Naturally, as a Justice, I would prefer not to see myself on this list until, if and when, I return to being a private citizen (regardless of what that actually means).

Discussions about regulations I suspect will probably have to wait a while.  I don't exactly speak for the Court here, but I speak for myself - this weekend and next week will be quite busy for me - and we will need to circulate and release the opinions for the two cases presently in front of us. 

However, if you or Brandon H want to draft something, I'll be happy to look at it or circulate it (or you can send it to BM to circulate).

I support the nominations submitted by Peter. If Peter intentionally left himself off since he was the AG at the time, then I should probably be removed from that list and Peter should be added. If Peter left himself off simply because he did not want on and it had nothing to do with him being the AG then leave myself on.

I deliberately left myself off because I do not like nominating myself. In principle, I have no problem with a serving Attorney General being a member of the Bar, in fact I would encourage it, and I prevail upon Brandon to keep his name in consideration.

I agree with Sam that because of the obvious conflict of interest, serving Justices should not be members of the Bar.

He's a former member of the court and has posted a few amicus briefs.  Other than that, I'm not sure what other qualifications he holds.

I was thinking of nominating TCash as well. Besides serving as a former member of the Court, one only needs to look at his performance in the recent Court case.
