I want to add that I would be utterly satisfied with either choice, I just think its time for give the job to someone who has never had it.  The was the deciding factor in my vote.

I wish this thread were relabeled so that senators know a vote is going on here. In fact, I don't think any vote was formally moved for. I need to read up on the Senate rules this weekend.

Nothing against you, Colin, but Rocky is online all the time. That's the most important part of being PPT (and was why I stopped being successful; I wasn't ridiculously active).

Hasn't Conor had issues in the past of not being able to get online?

I did indeed Senator, however you could blame my mother for that, but now she is perfectly fine. She came to her senses and realised that the "punishment" was not to be and thank God for that Smiley.

Could such a punishment arise again in the future should you have another youthful indiscretion?

I wish this thread were relabeled so that senators know a vote is going on here. In fact, I don't think any vote was formally moved for. I need to read up on the Senate rules this weekend.

The OSPR sets out the rules on senate procedure (that said, I'm not absolutely certain that it's completely up to date - which should add to the fun).

When run correctly, the practice of formally calling for votes is often not required in the Senate as there are explicit rules on timing which are to be applied by the presiding officer.

I'd also note that the practice of renaming threads to indicate the status or progress of bills is a matter of policy not law. It was first instituted by PPT Sam Spade and evolved under PPT Verily and PPT Meeker.

A 4-4 tie with Earl and Afleitch to vote, this is going to be interesting.  What happens in the case of a tie?

We probably just keep voting until the tie is broken. I'd change my vote if we needed to to break a tie; I like both choices as PPT.

I PMed both this morning.  I anticipate Earl will vote within the next day or two, but I haven't seen Afleitch around in quite a while—he didn't cast a vote in the Presidential Election.

DWTL...

Art. 8, Sect. 1, Cl. 1 of OSPR..
"If there is tie (in voting), the tie-breaking vote shall be cast by the President of the Senate."

Jas, the OSPR should be updated.  Maybe the new PPT can do it - or BrandonH can do it once he gets the job.

After some consideration, I switch my vote to Colin to avoid deadlock.

Well actually that would have been no deadlock, Afletich I believe delcared he was on a LoA, and Earl would have cast the deciding vote.  Now, with that vote you risk Earl and Afleitch vote Rocky creating the 5-5

Either Afleitch is gone or he is not. If he is gone, then my vote is deciding; if not, it could deadlock whether I switched or not depending on whom he votes for.
