1995 Quebec's independence referendum. I remember than my parents were sad than the NO had won. I don't remember 1998 Quebec election.

I remember 2000 Canada's election. When I saw the result, I said than Stockwell Day had the better name. My parents said me than he was an horrible person who hated the French speakers and who wanted the transform the Canada in a dictatorship.

My interest for the politics began in 5th Grade, in 2002, after a homework who was to find the name of the PM of Quebec and the name of one Quebec's minister.

It's basically a curse word in my house. My dad has a seething, yet comical hate, for Dukakis.

Some of the '84 campaign and a lot of the '86 midterms. Didn't care much about politics at the time so it wasn't all that important.

Have you tried to imagine Stockwell's face when all American gays move to Canada, as proned by forum member applemanat?

1998. Bear in mind I was only seven, so I didn't actually understand anything about politics. I just thought that elections were fun. Smiley

The 1987 Australian election - only because I met Bob Hawke.

That sounds very comical.

No, but that will probably be hilarious. Americans gays should come. They hate will hate Conservative Party. More persons who hate Conservative Party, more improvement in Canada.

1972.  I remember Mom and Dad arguing about it.  They both voted for Nixon in 1968.  But Dad had buyer's remorse after about six months and he voted for McGovern in 1972.  Mom adored Nixon and still does.  She thinks he was "framed" by the liberal media.

Nixon only framed himself.

You know that.  And I know that.

But tell that to my mother, who worships at the conservative Republican altar.

I think I may vaguely remember 96' but no particular instance. I just feel like I remember it.
I know 2000 is when I first really got interested. I went to a Catholic elementary school and most of my friends were for Bush. I was too, until I found out my mom was for Gore so I decided to switch to him. Then me and my friend decided to support Nader. Tongue

I secretly supported Gore in our class election. I think the final was something like 18-9-2 for Bush.

Aside from the 1984 presidential election (I remember being taken by my grandmother to watch President Reagan's motorcade), here are some other notables:

1989 was the first Gubernatorial election I can remember.  (I remember being confused as to why my parents didn't like Jim Courter.)  I greatly recall Gov. Kean, but not his '85 election bid.

1996 was the first election that I followed on the U.S. Senate level.

1999 was the first election that I followed on the (NJ) Legislative level.  I got much more intense in my analysis for 2001, and ultradetailed in 2003 (I had some of my district profiles run on PoliticsNJ.)

I paid spotty attention to House races in 1998 and 2000.  2002 was the first real election that I seriously started handicapping House races.

And 2004 was the last year I was able to make any sense of the Massachusetts State Legislative races.
