I found some 44 year old videos of CBS pre-election coverage from two days before the Campaign of 1964 ended. Included is a great interview with Senator Barry Goldwater. Man, that guy was awesome!

PART 1 OF 4:

The other parts should be on the sidebar of the video.

CSPAN should repeat a whole night of network coverage during down time in non election years. The BBC replays old General Election nights every now and then.

The Johnson ad on the sidebar, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWusOhZpq7w&feature=related reminds us that negative campaigning was not invented recently.

I have seen this video of the '64 Campaign coverage, but does anyone have 1996 election night or coverage?  Or know where to find it?  I really appreciate it.

Oh cool!

"This is Tom Brokaw brining you the latest election returns at this hour in this truly historic election.  Again, as you can see, the Southeastern half of the United States are grayed out, as they are currently in a state of open rebellion.  Right now, we have election returns available from Maine, which voted a month ago, and they show the President Lincoln currently has a large lead over former Army of the Potomac Commander George McClellan.  At this time we are predicting that Maine and its 7 electoral votes will go for President Lincoln.  And as Maine goes, so goes the nation."

And of course, as we know, the real battleground states in this election were Georgia and Virginia.
