I suppose Pawlenty wouldn't be a terrible choice, but I just don't see what he brings.  Any chance of swinging Minnesota is long gone, so why bother picking him?

He's non-controversial.

So was Dan Quayle in 1988.

MSNBC is still saying it could happen today. I'm not holding my breath though.

Don't think it's happening today.  Pawlenty is apparently scheduled to campaign for McCain in Iowa on Saturday though:

which, again, could mean nothing.  And Firstread says that GOP operatives who don't work for McCain directly but advise him informally are suggesting that it's better to hold off for a while on the VP announcement:
