1964, Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater vs President John F Kennedy, who is not assassinated.

My best case scenario for Goldwater.

John F Kennedy/Lyndon B Johnson                     415
Barry Goldwater/William E Miller                          123

Without the Civil Rights Act, Kennedy still wins in the South.

Gporter, thank you for your interesting map, but you are showing Goldwater running rather strong for 1964, I believe.

Over what I show in my map, I might give Goldwater Montana, (as a matter of fact I should give Montana to Goldwater)  but can you please explain the reasoning behind your map?

It's probably realistic. Gporter's of course is in his special little bubble so whatever....

Nevertheless, I wonder if the match-up would have been Kennedy and Goldwater had Kennedy lived. Rockefeller or Scranton might have been a better opponent against Kennedy in 1964 even those I think Kennedy wins barring a scandal.

Without the Civil Rights Act, Kennedy still wins in the South.

Kennedy probably would have signed it by 1964. All Johnson really did was dot the "I" and cross the "T" to it.

I'm not sure Kennedy could've gotten it passed at all.

He might have, unless the KKK had turned non-violent, which at the time seemed about as likely as tigers becoming vegetarian:

I think this is a realistic simulation.
