In 2008, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney defeats Arizona Senator John McCain in a close contest to win the Republican Presidential nomination.  In a conciliatory gesture to the McCain camp, Romney picks prominent McCain supporter South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham for Vice President, calling Graham a gifted leader and legislator.  McCain, although disappointed, gives Romney and Graham his total and unreserved support

Incredibly, on the Democratic side, Senators Clinton and Obama battle each other to a virtual draw, and veteran Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd comes up the middle and ends up being chosen as the compromise candidate.  Dodd surprises Democrats and the nation by picking up and coming youthful Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas for Vice President, calling her an extremly capable individual, ready to face the challenges the nation faces.  Both Clinton and Obama publicly endorse the ticket.

How does this election turn out?

Use maps if you choose.

Dodd/Dodd

The south doesn't go very strongly for Romney and thus, Dodd wins the popular vote even more comfortably than he would win the electoral vote.

Does Graham get outed during the campaign. In that case.

An inoffensive Democratic ticket versus a Mormon who reminds people of a used car salesman and a closeted gay man.
