I think it was certainly a factor in her abandoning her 2000 Senate campaign.

Well, that and the "arresting a dangerous black man" photo-op that surfaced in 2000. Which alone probably makes her ineligible for any elected office ever again.

You're right. While they're there, a portal to Alaska will open, and Sarah Palin will step through flanked by angels of the Lord to accept her rightful place by John McCain's side.

I think we're jumping the gun on this. There is one Republican source out there saying that Palin is the nominee. Palin is in Alaska right now, and is attending the state fair in Anchorage. McCain is in Ohio, ready to make his announcement two hours from now. It takes maybe ten hours to fly from Alaska to Ohio. Maybe it's true, but it seems... highly unlikely, despite the leak.

(As far as Intrade is concerned, though, foreseeing the rumor would have made you oodles of money.)
