I had meant to open the booth about 12 hours ago, but I forgot, so it's now open for business.  Cast your ballots.

So it closes on Sunday at 11:38:21 A.M. EDT?

The Mikado for Lt. Governor
aye or nay

Mideast Assembly (Please vote for 3)Sad
[X]Hashemite
[]Inks LWC
[X]HappyWarrior
[X]Write-in: Someone who isn't a fascist and who doesn't have a record of intimidating voters.

It's so sad that people use the word "fascist" out of context.

The balloting is now closed.  The Mikado has been confirmed as Lt. Governor by a vote of 6-0, while Inks and HappyWarrior have been elected to the Senate.  Since Hashemite cannot take office, I will announce whom I will appoint to the third seat soon.

For precedent purposes, did you count Al's vote, or did you invalidate it?

Is the Mideast Government pursuing charges under the Mideast Campaining in Voting Booths Statute?

No.

For what reasons?

Al didn't campaign in the voting booth. He did not name any one person directly, either.

However, he wasn't clear as to his third choice.

You can't invalidate it because he wan't clear.  You'd do it if/because he campaigned, in which case you'd press charges.  You can't do both.

EDIT: Actually, if Franzl accepts his write-in vote, and he's the first to accept it, you may be able to have him elected, and not appoint him.

Neither were most people. I can't tell if you preferenced HappyWarrior 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

But anyways, I don't recall any part about being unclear in prefs in the election regulation.

I have no problem challenging your ruling in court.

I think he campaigned against me, so I'll challenge it if he rules that it's valid.

Fine, then in order to prove it was me, I am claiming the write-in vote cast by Al.  It will be counted to me, since I'm the first to claim it.  If he protests, he was referring to me.  If he doesn't protest, then he voted for me.

So, my appointement of Franzl is null?

No.  You now need to appoint Franzl.

Hardly.  I'll open a voting booth in a second, with balloting to start at midnight.  This election will be done correctly.

Why are we revoting?  Just appoint Franzl.  There's nothing wrong with these results.

We're revoting because the wrong system was used in the original election.

You never indicated which system was being used, and you never officially certified the results, because you didn't say you didn't count Al's vote or why.  This election can (and should) still be good.

You never indicated which system was being used, and you never officially certified the results, so no system has officially been used yet.  You can still certify the results using PR-STV.

I'm curious as to why Governor Constine is not counting Senator-elect Al's vote, even though it was perfectly legitmate, more so than the Supreme Court case Gore vs. Bush which took place in December 2000. All the Senator-elect stated in his ballot was that he was voting for somebody that was not a fascist, *cough* Inks *cough* nothing more, nothing less. Silly Ben Constine. Silly, Silly, Silly.

If he counts Al's vote, I've already claimed that write-in vote as my own.

But it wasn't directed toward you.

I'm saying that it wasn't directed toward me, and thus I'm claiming his write-in vote as a vote for me.

No. What I mean is that he didn't specifically vote for you.

Not that it matters, since the whole election is invalid. My god, what's wrong with the Mideast?

You're right, but he said, "Somebody who..."  I'm saying I'm somebody who...

Not specific enough.

The law never states how specific it has to be.

Come someone please inform me why Xahar is so involved with this?  Isn't he hated enough in the Pacific?

I'm involved because I wrote the Constitution.

This has nothing to do with the Constitution.  The laws governing this part have to do with Statutes passed at the very beginning of the formation of the Mideast.

This has nothing to do with the Constitution.  The laws governing this part have to do with Statutes passed at the very beginning of the formation of the Mideast.

The Constitution specifically states the method of election, and thus overrrides the relevant law.

But the Constitution never states that the Governor has to tell the people the method of election, and thus could still count it using PR-STV (of course nobody would get any votes, but it'd still be abiding by the Constitution).  It's not a Constitutional issue.

Can't he just issue an executive order that keeps him from opening booths and just has him appoint whoever the hell he wants.

No, that WOULD violate the Constitution.  Tongue
