(This is really the first time I've heard her speak, so I don't have anything to compare it to.)

Not a bad speaker.  Good delivery and looks comfortable in front of a huge crowd.  Good way of confronting the conversation regarding her son Trig (special needs children) and Briston (unwed mothers/teen pregnancies).  Good plug on the Union ties as well.  Great counter on the claim that she has no experience (a Mayor ... "it's like a community organizer except that you have actual responsibilities.")  It will most likely be front page material tomorrow.  Also a good jab at the media, showing she's not intimidated by their coverage.  I'm not sure, but I think the veto lines were more directed towards to Bush than Congress, but I might be wrong.  She also showed a good understanding of global issues (energy security) and the economy.  Great character portrait of McCain at the end, especially telling the story of the other POW.  Not sure, but I think she was getting a bit emotional.

However, like Rudy's, the speech was too long.

I will have to say, I'm impressed.  She did a very good job and should put aside concerns that she's not ready for the big leage.  I'm not sure how much of the speech she wrote herself (including the zingers), but the speech was good and she delivered it well.  I give her an A- on both presentation and content, though there were a lot of details on "how" than what many others have provided (even in the DNC speeches).

C. A speech utterly devoid of specifics and instead a hatchet job full of half-truths and lies. The Queen will have her day in the son today, but tommorrow we go back to exposing her record for what it truly is.

Fresh.  And she can deliver a punch line ("...there's only one man in this campaign who has fought for you.")  I really like her.  And I stand by my comments I have consistently made even though I had not heard her speak.  She's a good choice and will make a fine debate opponent for Joe Biden.

I disagree that the speeches are too long, but then I tend to be verbose and so maybe I'm more tolerant of others in that regard.  Bill Clinton, for example, gave exceedingly long speeches and yet I always enjoyed them.  Overall, I would not be surprised if the GOP ticket gets a polling bump after the good speeches tonight.

9.

She did a terrific job. She made a strong case. The Obama people are going to have a lot to come back at. Of course, she did not address any of the specific issues dodging her, the question is whether this speech can erase those things in the next few days or not.

B. She successfully reintroduced herself to the media and the Republicans and did it well enough to get some, if not total, respect in the future. She can work as an attack dog and there's still no effective way for Obama-Biden to respond.

However, her ceiling is still low. She's not offering anything to anyone who doesn't shout "N-B-C! N-B-C!" when they hear something about the mean media. She's got the small town thing down, which makes her, I guess, the heir to George Allen.

She met low expectations well.

That would be "sun," not "son."  You get an F.

She went foreign policy wonk in the middle, that was good.  No, I don't have doubts that, Yes, she can.

Class warfare.  City/rural warfare, with those all important suburbs in the middle.

F Human garbage

Basically she's Laura Bush with a bunch of lying and attacks thrown in.

I'd vote for Dubya over her.

F for content (basically the 'content' grade for all convention speeches), A- for delivery. I dunno whether I'd give her as high a grade if she weren't an attractive female, tho.

Her delivery was much better this time. I still have no clue why she was picked to be VP or what her foreign policy views are. Lastly, she is a good looking woman.

C- for Content
B+ for Delivery

The speech itself was clearly several days out of date, did not really talk about a potential VP Sarah Palin, made unfortunate references to the Bridge to Nowhere, and invited examination of her foreign policy experience by hitting Obama's.

Much of this was not her fault. She did a good job with bad material. The only problems were a seeming hesitancy and a certain snideness when talking about the "other side".

So, outside of the hacks, we can say that this speech was good, but not great. Like the Olive Garden. Not a great place "to be seen", but the wine and the simple dishes really hit the spot.

Except when you ask the people (Italians) that matter, the Olive Garden is trash (aside from their salad).  Wink

Hey. Don't be elitist...and yes. Those salads are good. Olive garden is good for someone who lives in Laramie and must travel 66 miles to get to one.
