There are many former Hillary Clinton supporters who say they will not vote for Obama. But if Clinton never ran in the primaries, do you think these supporters would now be behind Obama? Put differently, are these type of supporters not voting for Obama because of what happened in the primaries or because they would never vote for Obama anyway?
Clinton supporters had been told not to vote for Obama for over a year, so it is not surprising that many are not voting for Obama.

I can personally attest that I am a former Hillary supporter, and I will be voting for Obama.  I am a smidge upset over the VP pick- it should have been Hillary, she had earned it- but that is not enough to cause me to vote for the other side or to not vote.  At this point, I think there are very few Hillary supporters who are still saying they will not vote for Obama, and they will all come home in the end.

Obama would have won the primaries handily though Bayh and Warner definitely would have run.

Not necessarily. Bayh might have dropped out after 2 weeks once he wasn't getting enough love. Warner might have chickened out again. Edwards might have won the primaries by getting most of Hillary's voters plus more activists and sexists.
