#3. Executing him would stir up Saddam supporters and we don't want that. The trial should reveal ALL his accomplices (e.g. Halliburton, Chirac, etc)

Execute after trial.

What kind of trial set up by the American/Iraqi government could possibly find him innocent?  I mean, that'd be like accidentially launching a missile or something.  Head's would roll.

Have an operative on the ground assasinate him on the way to his trial.

FAIR trial and whatever sentence is imposed by the court.

Would you have supported that for Hitler as well?

How about this idea:

Take Saddam into the middle of Halabja (sp?).
Tie him to a pole.
Tell everyone into the town about this.
Wait for a crowd to gather
Stick fingers in ear, turn around and start whistling
After... ooh... let's say 3 seconds... problem solved!

Seriously though, it's up to the Iraqis to decide etc... but as they're bringing back the Death Penalty especially for his trial it's kinda predictable what's going to happen to him...

I know people that swear up and down that he'll get off scot free.

Sure. I prefer a trial to a mob ANY day.

Had Mussolini been put on trial, instead of murdered, a civil war might have erupted in Italy

Option #3 for me.

Mainly because I´m against the death penalty in general.
