wow, I figured Indiana would be a bit closer, and while I don't think its quite this close, we have had numerous polls showing it real close.

What part of the state will show the biggest trend in Obama's direction?  NW Indiana or Indianapolis and its suburbs?

IN is the one state that's really doing my head in.

VA I can sort of figure out, but this is INDIANA - as mentioned Carter was the last Dem to break 45% and that was because of winning all along the KY border. Lake County even voted for Mondale... + keep in mind Gore and Kerry won 61% in Lake and still went down by 15 and 20% respectively.

If Obama is going this well it's more than just Lake, it's likely Indianpolis suburbs + College towns and the Counties along the L.Michigan shore and maybe even Louisville suburbs (Clark Co. being the best chance - Gore won 46% here) plus counties like Vermillion and Vigo along the IL border.

I still don't think Obama can win,  its sort of like Louisiana it polls one way McCain +12 but the blacks turn out to vote so it could be something like McCain +8.  In Indiana it might be McCain +5 or so right now, but after the votes are tallied up it will end up something like McCain +12.

I'm personally not talking about Obama winning IN.

But if he can get the AA turnout in the North and some counties near Louisville, the College vote, and some overflow from IL along the border - he can give McCain a MIGHTY scare.

I think the real issue is why McCain can't break 50% support here.

lol thanks for correcting him...if only there was an italian avatar...
Anyway,my post was clearly ironic, and referred to those who criticized Obama for spending money in Indiana, when basically all polls show it's a very tight race in there.

Polls have shown a close race in NJ in the past, too. The Republicans waste money there and the Dems still win comfortably. There might be a similar result.  Wink

And this might be the beginning of Indiana's history of toying with the Democrats.  Wink  That would be fun to watch.
