When an economic conservative such as Peter Costello argues the case for regulatory oversight, I think it's important to take note. He has vast experience in managing the economy, and paid off $96 billion of debt the Howard Government inherited when it took office. Here is an op-ed piece that was published in Melbourne newspaper The Age today. I bolded a paragraph I found interesting (and I believe important to note). His concluding paragraph summarises the importance of regulation, also.
