Being from Durham UK, I'm curious as to know if Durham, North Carolina is Democrat or Republican.

Are there any other Durham's in the US and, if so, do you know what there political colours are?

Durham NC is a pretty heavily democrat area.  Possibly the most reliable area of the state for the democrats.

Durham NC is a pretty heavily democrat area.  Possibly the most reliable area of the state for the democrats.

I live right near Durham, NC and it is reliably Democratic, because of the black population and the universities in/near it. Durham and its surrounding areas are really the only areas in the South where white liberals can get elected to Congress or state legislature.

It's actually North East NC. Unlike Durham, the whites in those areas are socially conservative.

It has some very poor areas, but also has one of the highest concentrations of PhD's in the U.S.

That map is pretty funny.  The poorest area (under $10,000 per capita annual income) in the entire city is the Duke campus!  I guess poor college students filled out census forms there. :-)
