I've never heard of Elway getting involved in politics in any way before this.
As far as impact, it is actually pretty big.  Elway is huge here and this simply can't help but give Bush a boost where he needs it most: the Denver suburbs.

I just hope Elway helps Coors in the same way (Coors was at the rally, but I don't think he got much coverage).

Now that I think about it, I seem to remember a story about Elway playing golf while the rest of the team met Clinton after one of the Superbowl wins...hmmmm.  I had always assumed Elway was truely apolitical, but maybe he's always been a Republican.

The Colorado GOP really wanted Elway to run for the 7th Congressional District seat in 2002.  He declined, but the seat was basically drawn for him.

I'm pretty sure there are still more people in the entertainment/sports industry for Kerry.

Well of course the same people who rail against actors and musicians expressing political views want people to take advice from a pampered pro-athlete because he is soo.. qualified.   They tried to get Ditka to run for office as well.  At least he could claim management experience.

He was planning to run in 2000, but decided to go into business and make the big coin.

I predict that this will definetly have an effect on the election.

John Elway will be the guiding force in the Bush campaign.

I always did like John. I think he could have a seat in congress if he really wanted it. He is one of the last of the great quarterbacks, next to Dan Marino and Joe Montana of course.

I think Brett Favre belongs up there.

I'm pretty sure there are still more people in the entertainment/sports industry for Kerry.

Here are a few football names that have endorsed either President Bush or Senator Kerry

Anonthy Munoz of the Cincinnai Bengals is supporting Bush

Franco Harris of the Steelers is supporting John Kerry

Lynn Swan is supporting Bush

Troy Aikman is supporting Bush

and John Elway, of course.

Kevin Johnson, former Phoenix Suns point guard, is a prominent Arizona Democrat. He probably supports Kerry.

once in a blue moon a celebrity or athlete that's taken one too many blows to the head comes out in favor of Bush.

Aikman has donated to Bush though he's never been known to be a republican

Nolan Ryan, Al Leiter and George Brett support Bush.

Jimmy Johnson, Julius Erving, Lou Lamoriello and Barry Switzer support Kerry.

I believe that Tom Brady is also a Bush supporter. He was Laura Bush's guest at the 2004 SOTU address.
Yes, this is true. Brady is a Republican. I found that amusing because he went to the liberal University of Michigan. I wonder if the PC goons there turned him Republican or maybe he always was.

It would be nice to have a white NFL liberal quarterback.

I doubt Manning is...maybe my man Ken Dorsey?  I should ask him.
