If Sarah Palin was the Democratic Governor of Alaska, more liberal than she is, pro choice, but with the same personality, experience, and grasp of the issues, and was the Democratic VP nominee

And

If Joe Biden was the Republican Senator from Delaware, more conservtive than he is, pro life, but with the same personaltiy, experience, and grasp of the issues, and was the Republican VP nominee

What effect would this have had on the race?

I think Bill Richardson, Evan Bayh, or Tim Caine would have increased my chances for voting for Obama.  A solid economic plan a month ago would have as well.

I think this is an interesting question. John McCain would be using the experience argument against Obama a lot more that he is now and the Republican base would be less energised.

Then Sarah Palin wouldn't be Sarah Palin and Joe Biden wouldn't be Joe Biden and we've slipped through a wormhole into a parallel universe .. or something.

OR, Palin is a pro-choice, moose-hunting, creationist democrat- WTF?

OR you've just thought that this would be a really clever topic when actually it isn't?

So your question is ....

What if Obama's VP were an ulta-liberal governor w/ questionable ethics, a limited grasp of the issues, and very little experience and McCain's VP were a very experienced Senator w/ a history of party loyalty?

I think in that world McCain would be doing a lot better.  Personally I would be a lot more nervous about the Obama ticket.

It's an interesting concept, that's for sure. Don't knock it.

I don't think it would make much of a difference- while Obama would lose the experience issue in a big manner, he could well attack McCain and Biden as Washington insiders.

Ultimately this election is about the economy. The partisans are really window dressing.
