Politico had it earlier. These things happen in election years; people are morons. The racial overtones of the Obama effigy are somewhat more menacing than the message of the Palin and McCain effigies, but both are just done by fools.

The type of thing done on both sides by people without the intellect to debate ideas or entertain the concept that perhaps the person they disagree with has a right to have their own thoughts.

Frankly, I think this effigy is out of bounds.  It may be Constitutional but it is an abuse of First Amendment rights.  I don't agree that violent speech, of which I would include a display which celebrates or encourages violence against an individual or a class of people should always be protected speech.  The individual who did this is an embarrassment.

What about an Obama pinata?

It isn't the same thing at all, Inks - Palin wants to kill these people, so it is appropriate for them to respond (at least in effigy) in the same way.
