This guy is going to regret things once his 15 minutes are up and no one will hire him for plumbing.

Why would anyone want to anyway? He doesn't have a license.

That's my point really, he let that go public and now no one will hire him since they know that he's a liar and fraud. And just in exchange for a few weeks in the national spotlight. Then he'll go back to being an obscure joke.

I wouldn't be shocked if Joe the Plumber's comments foreshadow where the McCain campaign is going regarding Obama's Israel policy (absent the rhetoric).   There's a lot of talk in the right-wing blogosphere about the L.A. Times sitting on the Khaldi farewell dinner tape.

And what those smear merchants say is nowt but God's Own Truth I suppose Roll Eyes. I don't know. The depths to which those invested in the promise of more of the failed same will stoop. Terrified of owning it come November 4, are they?

Dave

Well, the L.A. Times is sitting on the Khalidi farewell dinner tape.  That is not in dispute.  The question is what's on it.  Nobody really knows.

Look - I realize about 80% of this forum are Obama supporters, with 40% or so being true believers incapable of being reasoned with.  You really don't need to shoot the messenger for telling you what the other side is saying.

Did Obama speak at that dinner or what? Who is Khalidi?  Is he that Florida dude?

According to the Los Angeles Times, Obama did speak at the Khalidi farewell dinner, along with others.   The L.A. Times reported that some pro-Palestinian activists made anti-Israel comments at the dinner, but Obama's comments were non-controversial, calling for common ground.   But the L.A. Times won't release the tape so that we can decide on our own.

No, Professor Khalidi isn't that Florida dude.  Here's how Politico describes him:

He's really the heir to Edward Said, who was a controversial pro-Palestinian professor in his own right.

Hopefully after November 4th Joe the Plumber will fade away and we will be left with Joe the Vice President.

I'm going to guess that he ends up on VH1's "Best Week Ever" at some point.

I might add that Obama is a very skillful man. He knows how to use the guys under the rock, to further his career, without the same tanking him, when the denizens of dark spaces are forced out from under the rock for examination. Nobody does it better, and for that I admire him, seriously.

Well, we don't know because we don't know what's on the tape.  For starters, given the media's bias, would you rather trust the L.A. Times' characterization of what Obama actually said, or see it for yourself?  Any videotape of Obama's reaction to anti-Israel rants (probably not from Khaldi, BTW, but from his allies) might be instructive - one way or the other.  And there are rumors that Obama might have sat at the same table as Bill Ayers - who supposedly was at the farewell dinner himself.  If so, is he still just a guy from the neighborhood?

We don't know because we don't know.  And the LAT shouldn't be sitting on it.

That only works when the media is running interference for you.

The party that claims to champion the "working man" is attacking one of those "working men" with glee.

What do you expect Democrats to do when Joe the Fraud keeps running smear attacks like this levelled at their presidential nominee?

Dave

How is asking a tough question to a Presidential candidate who comes to your yard for a photo op a smear attack?

come on, there's a secret tape that's not on Youtube, Veoh, or any similar service? That nobody but the LA times has, of which there is presumably only one copy? Is this also the tape on which Michelle says whitey?

The LA Times has a tape of Khalidi's farewell dinner, and is refusing to release it.  Of that there is no doubt.  The L.A. Times ITSELF says so.  If it's on YouTube, no one has found it.  And I never said there's only one copy.

And no, this isn't the Michelle Obama whitey tape, which as far as I'm concerned, doesn't exist unless released.

well I guess in the next 2-3 days we'll see if the Khalidi story has any legs. It's been out for a while (I saw it mentioned on an episode of Hannity's America about 3 weeks ago) and so far it hasn't. It might, but a foundation on whose board McCain served gave money to Khalidi's organization.

Even if that's accurate, blame the source, not the Times. He made them promise not to release it.

What is with tapes this election season?

It would seem that Obama would be smart enough to avoid these types of things giving he must have planned to run for president 8 years ago or more?

I take nothing the L.A. Times says at face value.  When was that promise made?  Today?  Why?

They have the tape.  They wouldn't be complaining about releasing it if they didn't.

Dave

How is asking a tough question to a Presidential candidate who comes to your yard for a photo op a smear attack?

"Joe the Plumber's" absurd charge that Obama's election will lead ot the death of Israel is a smear

I called this election for McCain over two weeks ago; essentially, because I've never been one to underestimate the effectiveness of the deceitful, lying, smear-pedling, scaremongering and, worst of all, hate-inciting right-wing machine

Obama's been called a Muslim, a Marxist, a socialist, a traitor, a terrorist, which are all absurdities. The fact that he is an American born citizen has even been questioned. How sick is that?

The fact is Barack Obama is a pragmatic, albeit liberal-leaning, Christian Democrat, for whom what is fair and what is just matters, and you lot are sh**t scared that if he wins and proves to be successful that he'll make the Republicans own their FAILURE

Lets get one thing straight. Obama is a Democrat, who if elected, knows fine well that he has govern ably, competently and wisely, making progress on the 'American Promise' otherwise there will be no free pass for him in 2012. The ideological nature of America, as it stands, in that conservatives outnumber liberals three to two enabled the inept George W Bush to get a pass in 2004.

What is there to prevent any President McCain from being just as hapless if he abuses the ideological nature of America to the point that he, too, would get a free pass in 2012?

Believe me, after eight years of George W Bush, competence is my litmus. McCain is keen to remind us all that he is a conservative Republican. Whopee do! Because when I add George W Bush + conservative + Republican, I get the very personification of ineptitude. By his own admission, he and Bush are similar philosophically. That's not change, that's more of the same

Am I pleased that any President Obama won't be beholden to dogma, for its own sake Roll Eyes

Still, it's moot anyway, McCain will have lied, smeared and scaremongered his way to victory, on that I'm certain Sad
