I think Byrd's former membership in the KKK would pretty much destroy his chances. I know I'd never vote for him because of that.

I say Lott/Lott

I think Byrd has reformed himself from the KKK, but I doubt he'd be able to win it.

It would be a close race.

If forced to vote I vote for Byrd, although his vote for the FMA pisses me off. But I agree with him on more issues than I do Lott.

Lotts remarks about Segregation would kill his chances an' all

What did Lott say about segregation?

He said the coutry would be much better off and not have the "problems" we have today if Strom won his Presidential bid in 48.  Thurmond ran under the SOLE PURPOSE of prserving Segregation

Those comments are vague to say the least. Their is absolutely NO evidence that is what he meant. What he was talking about is that he felt Strom would have been stronger on National Defense then Truman or Dewey.

Then why did he mention anything about his Presidential run.  If he meant ANYTHING about national defense he would have mentioned it or talked about Strom's Senate record.  Instead he chose to talk about Strom's Presidential run.  Strom's Presidential run had NOTHING to do with National Defense, NOTHING, the ONLY thing Strom's Presidential run had to do with was preserving segregation.  So its quite obvious what Lott meant.  And cmon its not like Lott is known to have a record of supporting anyone that isn't white.  I don't remember who it was but he also praised another segregationalist back in the 80's as well

I don't like West Virginia, and I don't like the Democratic Party standing up for West Virginia. I would probably vote Lott in this election.

He is my take.  I'll vote for the first one that comes to North Philadelphia and attempts to talk to the people that live here!  (NP is predominately Black.)

If either is willing to try to reach out, I'll listen.  Neither has.

I would vote for Green or even Libertarian (the one with a [better] chance of winning).

There would probably a "moderate", slight social liberal, 3rd party candidate.

Here's another great Lott quote:

"The people in this room stand for the right principles and the right philosophy. Let's take it in the right direction and our children will be the beneficiaries." - From a 1992 keynote address to the white supremacist group Council of Conservative Citizens

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_Conservative_Citizens

http://www.cofcc.org/

Anyway, I hate them both, so I wouldn't vote or I'd vote for someone else.
