What do you think about celeb endorsements?

I see little difference between celebrity endorsements and endorsements that come from politicians.  The idea that people would allow the opinions of complete strangers to influence their vote really puzzles me.  Unless they also put forth a valid argument in favor of the candidate they're endorsing I see no reason to listen to them.  They mostly serve as a method of self-indulgence if you ask me.
