Wolfe polling at 40% seems a little odd (he might end up with that sort of figure, but you wouldn't expect him to poll at it, if that makes sense).

I was actually thinking that too.

Haven't Byrd & Rockefeller's margins been shrinking for some time now? I'm too lazy to look them up. Tongue

I'm surprised Jay Wolfe is running this bad. He must really be running a bad campaign.

Rockefeller won 63%-37% last time and I would have expected him to increase his margin this time, but perhaps the Presidential race will affect the result somewhat.  Yet although I believe McCain will win West Virginia, it will not be a significant victory.  My prediction:

WEST VIRGINIA PRESIDENT -
54% (R) McCain
45% (D) Obama

WEST VIRGINIA SENATE -
62% (D) Rockfeller
36% (R) Wolfe
  1% Others

Sort of hard for that sort of thing to mean anything when they're only up every six years. FWIW...

Byrd: 18.4% in 1958, 35.3% in 1964, 55.3% in 1970, Unopposed in 1976, 37.7% in 1982, 29.5% in 1988, 38% in 1994, 57.6% in 2000, 30.7% in 2006.
Rockefeller: 4.1% in 1984, 31.6% in 1990, 53.3% in 1996, 26.22% in 2002.

Anybody else find it strange that a Rockefeller is a popular senator from WV?
