Unbelievable!

And some Jewish groups are supporting this!

Hmm... I have mixed feelings about this. My thought is, if the Jewish Orthodox Church has it we have no right to deny the Muslims. However, in the end it is more likely that I wouldn't of allowed the Jewish community to create an independant court system at all.

Frightening. Surely this would contravene Canadian human rights laws?

My attitude is...
When in Rome, do as the Romans do. I find it abhorrent that some immigrants move to a foreign nation and then try and change it to suit themselves.
You move to Canada, you should become 'Canadian' with all that entails. Same with the US or UK or Finland.

I tend to agree. I object to any alternative courts in general, I find it an affront to Canadian nationalism. However, if there's a Jewish court, is it really fair to deny another? I don't know. Maybe the supreme court will rule to abolish both.

Exactly.

In Finland an official immigration policy demands that immigrants adopt basic norms of the Finnish society and Finnish language. They can practise their own religions and habits as much as they want, but they should respect the fact that they are part of the Finnish society.

Yes, I agree.
Personally I would introduce laws that require you, as an immigrant, to swear alliegance to your adopted nation and to abide by it's laws and regulations. If you don't like it, then stay in your own country.

Immigration is great, but immigration of Muslims is terribly dangerous.  No reasonable country would allow it.

I don't care what peoples religion is. Religion is a private mather and the mixing of religion and law is exstremely unhealthy
