No one who vote for McCain is going to vote for McAuliffe other than an insignificant handful of PUMA clowns. You don't attract crossover support by chairing a partisan position, even if you do an absolutely pathetic job at it. And not everyone who voted for Obama will vote for him either. That's why he has no chance.

I feel like Terry's ace in the hole might be the minority vote

Why the hell would blacks back an uber-anti-Obama hack?

are they going to remember?

The other candidates could certainly remind them. Terry's greatest hits on the media would make for some great campaign ads.

Deeds is not the worst candidate. I'd vote for him a million times over McAuliffe, though I still support Moran, but McAuliffe is awful beyond words' description.

Still waiting for someone to show me some anti-Obama statement Terry has made that can be used against him.  All he's done, that I've seen on Youtube looking around, is make delusional and constant hackish Hillary claims that she was still going to win.

Which prove that he's a fucking moron who belongs nowhere in office. Would you trust J. J. as a leader?

Terry splitting the liberal vote?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?

I know a lot of College Dems supporting him for some reason.

Who I assume were hardcore Obama supporters. Did you let them know about his anti-Obama extremism and desire to perform cunnilingus on Queen Hillary?

Also, Hillary isn't exactly unpopular in Southwest Virginia, eh?

Terry splitting the liberal vote?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?

Well, more specifically, Terry should do well with partisans, many of whom are liberal

Why would partisan Democrats flock to the worst thing to happen to the Democratic Party in decades?

That has actually boosted my opinion of McAuliffe. Not enough to support him in the primary, but maybe enough so that I could reluctantly vote for him if I lived in the state and he won the primary, thankfully I won't ever have to do that no matter what.

Tweed has a good point about a Deeds' victory, but an annoying kid on an internet message board isn't enough reason to doom a state to McAuliffe or McDonnell. Deeds is our most likely salvation.

PPP was arguably the best pollster in the Democratic primary between Obama and Hillary.

The Glorious Prophet and Bringer of the Truth, Nate Silver, has a great and very encouraging post up:

http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/06/mcauliffe-virginia-dean-iowa.html

Basically pointing out that McAuliffe's polling is following a similar to pattern to Howard Dean's in Iowa.

Moran won't be the next Governor of Virginia. Deeds might be. If Deeds isn't, McDonnell most likely will be, or possibly McAuliffe which is hardly much better. Deeds is kind of the only hope for people who don't want a completely worthless waste of life as VA Governor.

here are the only three ads I could find on Moran's youtube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39uKekhDE24
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rt_W2-8Pem4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfBemdcsuZo

Even the "I approve of this message" is done horribly

WTF?
Was Moran so busy that he couldn't spare two minutes entering a studio and recording his approval? That sounds like he did it through a cell phone. Pathetic!

And Gubernatorial ads aren't even required to have it. WTF?

Deeds is pretty horrible

# Deeds supports removing the "trigger-man" clause, restricting the death penalty to those who physically committed the action, in Virginia capital punishment law.[6]
# In 2005, Deeds said that he disagreed with the Supreme Court ruling making it unconstitutional to execute juveniles. He argued that it was the jury's duty to determine when and where the death penalty should come into play.
Deeds voted to designate English as the official language of the Commonwealth[13]

and so on...

Yet it's impossible for him to be as horrible as Terry (one of those is completely moot anyway since he can't overrule the Supreme Court.)

It always amazes me when people care deeply about the death penalty one way or the other.  It's an extremely cold-button issue for me.  (My personal position is keep the death penalty legal but never use it...but I really don't care that much)

I care about it, but not about a sub-issue relating to it that the Supreme Court has already ruled on and for who any Governor's position on is now completely irrelevant. Which is what the execution of minors is.

If this has already been brought up I apologize I'm still a n00b.

One thing I wish would be discussed more in the media is the restoration of rights issue.  For those who don't know, Virginia and Kentucky are the only states where felons are not immediately re-issued their rights (such as voting and holding office) after their debt to society has been paid.  In VA they have to go through a lengthy restoration process that ends with approval or disapproval by the governor.  So if a governor just doesn't want felons to vote, well then, they won't for the entirety of his term.

Deeds would like to continue Kaine's general loosening of the rules and approve anyone he can whereas McDonnell will approve no one.  This issue comes up for a vote each year and is party-line shot down.
Ugh. That'd disgusting.

Well, at least you're down to two states now... was something like a dozen ten years ago IIRC.

Funny how some people think it's more common. I found out a few days ago my mom though it was like that in every state like it was federal law, then I pointed out that voting is handled completely by states.

Excuse me, but this poll says that 15% of Obama voters stated that they will vote McDonnell while 9% of McCain voters said they will vote Deeds.

According to my poor math, that should result to a draw and certainly not a blow-out for either candidate.

The poll sample is 52% McCain, 43% Obama. One of the many reasons why it's a joke poll.

ahahahahahahahahhaha

Shame though, SUSA isn't that bad.

I have a friend who has been involved in Democratic politics for some time in Northern Virginia. Worked for Kaine, voted for Obama and Warner, against the Gay Marriage Amendment, and a straight democratic ticket in 2005. He is wavering and strongly considering McDonnell.

I really can not comprehend why someone like that would vote for MCDONNELL.

I can not possibly comprehend how anyone could vote for both McDonnell and Obama. That makes no sense whatsoever.
