I watched some of the coverage and noticed that Rick Perry practically shoved Palin off the stage 4 minutes into her press conference that was supposed to last 20 minutes.  You could hear grumblings among the reporters, and the male governors standing behind her looked really uncomfortable and almost jealous.

Turns out the backbiting and bitterness has already begun:

Apparently Pawlenty got a dig in during his speech too, saying "Drill baby drill is not an energy policy"

CUT THE TENSION WITH A KNIFE

The current crop of Republican governors is exceptional imo, but unfortunately for them the Washington Republicans may have screwed them over.  So many rising stars makes it harder to know which path to go down too.  Regardless, it's going to be very interesting and get very UGLY, even if it is 4 years away.

Shouldn't this be in US General Discussion?

Anywho, of all things I was watching FOX News yesterday, On the Record with Greta Van Susteren in particular (why, I don't know) and I saw clips of Governor Palin's speech at the gubernatorial convention. I never realised until yesterday how much of a poor public speaker she is. Did it make me cringe ever so. But then again this is politics and it is expected that not all politicians are like the incoming President.

You realize that it's more like two years away as, in the 2008 presidential campaign cycle, most of the candidates announced either their candidacy or exploratory committees between Dec. 2006 and Feb. 2007, with the first debates being held in April and May of 2007?

In fact, the stealth campaigning part will likely start within one and a half years, as, for example, both McCain and Romney spent a lot of their time in 2006 behind the scenes, trying to woo influential people within the GOP in early primary states like NH, MI, and FL.

She is a horrible public speaker.  Worse than Bush and McCain, IMO.  She sounds like a student giving a presentation in front of the class, but doesn't know the material as well as she should, so she tries to say things with conviction to make it seem as if she does.

I like that Palin just gave the usual stump speech that she gave again and again during the campaign.

Palin is pushing the Republican party off a cliff.

The Worst Gov meeting of all time.

I was waiting for this! You want to know why you think that, Naso? It's because the second I saw these pictures of her with her hair down, I thought, "Oh, Christ. She's looking very '80s."

Whatever, Phil. I don't think she looks "'80s", I think she looks good.

Sorry she can't have painted on hair like your buddy, Rick.

This is probably the most unappealing picture of Palin I've ever seen... She's like a vampire with her eyes on her next meal.

Pointless and Palin pretty much shows once again that she should be nowhere near a presidential campaign.

If this is all the Gop has to offer then Obama is president for 8 years.  Which is a good thing.

She should undergo her transformation like Zell sometimes does.

I was glad to see Perry shove her off, I'd much rather hear him any day.

Perry has gone up tenfold in my mind in the last few years, he wants the KBH Senate Seat (they'll trade places within the next few years) unless they murder each other in a Governor's Primary. The thing is, he just doesn't care about anyone's toes, he's got his ideas and he sticks to them.

she gave her stump speech when she thought she was on the phone with Nicolas Sarkozy.
