The hearing is called to order.

Senators are encouraged to debate the qualities of the nominee and ask him questions.

I oppose this nominee; he's shown to have no respect for certain Atlasian citizens, and the allegations of voter fraud are difficult to ignore.

What are your plans for the position?
Why do you want to be AG?
Did you seek the job or were you sought for the job?

Isn't this mostly a drudge job wiki-ing stuff?

Jas, I plan to extensively update the Wiki, and perhaps appoint qualified new members to the Supreme Court Bar. I want to be AG because Atlasia's history is being lost, and there really is no better position for chronicling it than from the Attorney Generalship. However, I was in fact sought for this job.

Torie, indeed this is. It is the sort of busy work I can do with my apparently unlimited time.

LOL. People should be smart enough to thank you for your willingness to do this. I certainly am.  Smiley

I plan to support Xahar's confirmation.  Though many questions are begged by various allegations and actions of his, he is one of the most competant people for updating the wiki and as was previously said has hours of free time.

Not a Senator, but...shouldn't the Attorney General be someone with more of a respect for the rule of law?

You'd think so, but apparently not.

Ah, that's perfectly all right. But I've never broken Atlasian law, and the legal aspect is a tiny portion of what the AG does. Also, you need to appoint an Assemblyman.

I really dont know what to say about this nominee.. I believe that many of the questions I would have asked already have been. But I'll give it a shot.

Xahar, in order to win my trust (and vote) for you to be our next Attorney General, can you tell me anything that you've done wrong while in Atlasia. Something we may know, or may not know. Honesty is key.

THe federal government will become a complete joke if they confirm a guy who's hacking into someone's personal computer and threatened blackmail to other members of this country with what he got out of the hacking.

I call on all the Senators to oppose Xahar in his bid to become Attorney General on these grounds alone. We need someone who will uphold the law, not break it.

This is the guy who created a fake account on another party's forum, something blatently dishonest.  He won't even own up to his sockpuppet accounts as others have in the past.  A lying deceitful creep that needs to kept far from the federal government.  I encourage all senators who wish to keep this game having a shread of integrity to oppose this nominee.

All bloviating aside, Xahar probably is a good candidate for Attorney General, and someone I almost certainly would have appointed myself had it not been for the dark cloud surrounding him.

The question here for Senators is this: What's more important?  Opening up China, or keeping Nixon out of office?

Ah yes, the time honored Atlasian tradition of Ericadlering.
As long as there are people who - for reasons of their own - mistakenly feel they need a special forum on which to plot evil things (I have been one such person, a long time ago), there will be other people who - for reasons of their own - mistakenly feel the need to find out what's said there (Never gone there except for the readily accessible parts visible for non-members).

I have no problem whatsoever with that, and refuse to learn the sordid little details.

That's why I've largely remained silent here. Xahar has done things of dubious legality, which is not desirable in an Attorney General. However, the Wiki could not be in any better hands. This is especially crucial as many parts of the Wiki have undergone long periods of neglect. We basically have nothing on the Southeast after June 2007, though that's beyond the scope of the AG's duties.

I will be voting against this appointment. Think of Atlasia as a Peanuts comic. Xahar is some twisted bastard hybrid of Schroeder and Pig Pen.

Abstain.
