This should be fairly uncontroversial. Since it's a Senate resolution, there is no need to request the input of the SoEA.

Kind of an empty time wasting gesture no?

No more so than the rest of our foreign policy, really.

(but "yes" all the same, to a degree)

Why not come up with something with a bit more muscle? Where are the weapons coming from and the munitions?

According to the DEA, we have full restrictions on the DRC already. Not a lot else we can do.

I think with the addition of a GM to Atlasia it is about time Atlasia enters into a war, after all does'nt pretty much every real country deal with a real war at some point in it's history.  These wars are a deep part of the political atmosphere and this would send a much stronger gesture.  What I'm saying is maybe we should consider a war resolution.

Does war have any place in a modern society?

More than that, why here?

I lean more towards Somalia, and war has a place in every society.  It is human nature, to think otherwise is ignorance.

So then Senator Warrior... let me, let us all, be clear about this. You think that we should declare war on some tin pot third world country somewhere just because you think that going to war is something that countries ought to do, lest they be, I don't know, unmanly countries?

No I'm just saying that if there is cause such as a country engaging in genocide, I take to old style liberal view that as the world's major democratic country we have a responsibility to protect those weaker than ourselves.  Also I'm not saying we should, just saying to keep an open mind.  :-D

Well we can punish the source of the munitions, you know like if France is hawking them or something?

Do we actually know the source of the munitions? If not, we could appoint a commission to look into the matter, which could be followed by a release from the GM a couple of weeks later. Wink

I think we might have GM-related problems if one of the main drug dealers outside the school gates is the same as Rwanda in the '90's and if we try to punish accordingly.

One thing to keep in mind about weaponry in the third world is that it gets used in several conflicts consecutively.
The underlying problem is the wealth of ressources of Eastern Congo in what was never a real, neither weak nor downright failed, state. And maybe the distance to Kinshasa. And... oh, so many.

The vote is on Dwtl's tabling motion. Please vote aye, nay or abstain.
