I never got why he was so hyped to begin with. Was he wildly popular as Governor? Because I don't remember him doing anything major in the Senate, or his speeches being exeptional.
He was considered the Conservative alternative to Rudy and McCain and thus the reason for all the hype.
I know this might make a lot of Republicans here angry but I was jumping for joy when "Macaca" came to light. The reason is b/c since he was viewed as the conservative alternative to McCain and Rudy he was a roadblock to Mitt Romney and so I was happy to see him lose. He never really struck me as very bright and I knew is past would come back to haunt him in a Presidential bid and so I was glad the GOP never had to risk nominating him.
