If Michigan can have a thread, so can we Smiley

So, are any names being floated around?  I'm really hoping Harold Ford Jr. runs, but I haven't heard if he's interested.

Democrat
Harold Ford Jr.
Lincoln Davis

How about the current Lt Gov, Ron Ramsey?  Or perhaps he prefers running the State Senate.

Harold Ford Jr.'s candidacy will largely depend on Obama's performance in the next two years.. as much of a double standard that is.

If Frist doesn't run, several of the following Republicans will:

Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons
State Senator Mark Norris
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam
Congressman Zach Wamp
Lt. Govenor Ron Ramsey
and possibly Congressman Marsha Blackburn, though she may be keeping her powder dry for a Senate run whenever Lamar retires

htmldon, who're the leading Democrats, y'think?  My excel spreadsheet I made for work mostly just says Harold Ford and Lincoln Davis.

I expect the Republicans to win this race when Obama is in the household.

This is going GOP...  think Wamp is going to run, but maybe Frist will throw his name in the race.

Still trying to figure why Lincoln Davis would make a run that will be quite difficult to win.  Plus, I suspect TN-04 would probably be a goner too.

Actually on paper it would seem that Lincoln Davis would have a pretty good shot considering that you basically have to run in every Media market except Memphis to win the 4th. So its likely he is well known in multiple regions of the state. He is probably no stronger then any other with the way TN voted this year.

I think Davis said he won't run if Harold Ford runs.

Tennessee is going to be a bright spot in Republican redistricting in 2012. That's a fire under his butt, perhaps.

Although, looking at their homes (Byrdstown for Davis; Murfreesboro for Gordon) Davis looks more likely to survive a redistricting than Gordon, even though Davis's home is on the fringes of his district and close to the border of the 6th.
