Any better legal minds have a critique of this latest Frum column?  Two things:  Frum is a cynical conservative who tends to place his highest vales on foreign policy and pragmatics, and SSM = same-sex marriage

#2 was already solved in a court case a few years ago in Virginia. The Virginia court ruled that the ex-partner (they had received a civil union in Vermont) had to be granted visitation rights. The case was Miller-Jenkins v. Miller-Jenkins.

I believe #5 has also been solved by a court case, but I'm not certain on that. Again, in favor of recognition.

I would guess that, thirty years from now, same-sex marriage will be legal across the country, so it won't be a legal issue, no.

My guess is that a majority of Americans will support same-sex marriage by around 2030, and the Supreme Court will mandate SSM at a federal level around 2035 or 2040. I would guess that most Americans opposed laws like the ones struck down by Lawrence v Texas well before 2003.

My guess is that, thirty years from now, the Dominionists will have realized their ambition to transform America into a Christo-fascist theocracy.

why? Fundies are a shrinking demographic profile, and their children are more moderate on almost every issue.

Because the American heart is as large as the American mind is narrow. My guess is that the rate of conversion will overtake the rate of liberalization.

No. The concentration camps are almost completed, the Christians will be hauled off to be tortured endlessly until they deny Christ. Gays will be free to marry.

If it wasn't so embarassing I'd find the back to back replies by the two worst red avatars on the forum (except possibly ben) to be so amusing in their sheer inanity.

So I'm now one of the worst Democrats on the forum?  Coming from you, that is a compliment.

My last post was sarcastic, but it is what many Christians believe.
