First, the process on figuring this out

1) figure out where a precinct list is located
2) figure out where the University campus is located.
3) figure out where the campus precinct(s) are located
4) cross reference it with the precinct list.

We can see that precinct 4 (Central United Methodist Church) has a lot of dorm residents, as does precinct 2 (Covenant Church).

So let's go to the precinct results list

The CUMC results

The Covenant Church precinct was slightly different

In conclusion... Arkansas students are not huge fans of John Boozman or John McCain.

I would never have guessed that the University of Arkansas was more liberal than Wake Forest.

It's a large state school, which tend to be more Democratic than the surrounding area and Wake Forest is Baptist right?

Not anymore. It's no longer affiliated with the southern baptist convention. We still have services on campus, though.

Interesting that U. of Arkansas voted solidly for Obama even though it was one of the few college counties that McCain carried. Below appear to be the only other ones--can anyone check to see if Obama won the actual campus.

Lee, AL (Auburn) 59-40 McCain
Tuscaloosa, AL (U. of Alabama) 58-42 McCain
Riley, KS (Kansas State) 52-45 McCain
Lafayette, MS (U. of Mississippi) 56-43 McCain
Cleveland, OK (U. of Oklahoma) 62-38 McCain
Payne, OK (Okla. State) 63-37 McCain
Clemson, SC (Clemson) 72-26 McCain
Knox, TN (U. of Tennessee) 61-38 McCain
Brazos, TX (Texas A & M) 64-35 McCain
Lubbock, TX (Texas Tech) 68-31 McCain
McLennan, TX (Baylor) 62-38 McCain
Utah, UT (Brigham Young) 78-19 McCain

Riley, KS (Kansas State) 52-45 McCain

Manhattan has clearly redistricted between 2004 and 2008, so the Bush totals here will be pretty much useless.  I made this map because Kansas State's campus is actually included with the obviously-GOP Manhattan Country Club, rendering extraction futile.  There is a university district to the west which Obama won, and Kerry about tied.

Here's the map:

The swings are a bit, um, questionable, especially considering wards appeared and disappeared.  In any case, the City of Manhattan (not including more-Democratic absentee ballots) was 58-40 Bush in '04.  By 2008, it was 56-43.

However, in 2004, non-poll voters (not counted with the city) were 21% of votes cast and went 57-42 Bush.  In 2008, that went up to 43% of votes cast, and they went 54-45 Obama.  That makes the precinct-level stuff a lot less useful.

In summary:  In 2004, Kerry very narrowly carried KSU and its community, and by 2008 Obama carried it moderately.

Lafayette, MS (U. of Mississippi) 56-43 McCain

Oxford, Miss., is divided into five precincts.  Ole Miss is west of downtown, just before some suburban areas on the town's outskirts.  Downtown is about twice as long vertically as horizontally.

Oxford 3 and Oxford 4 vote about a block from each other.  Oxford 4 is right off of the campus to the north; Oxford 3 is another block down from the intersection where Oxford 4 votes.  Oxford 3 was 63-35 Obama.  Oxford 4 was 58-41 McCain.

It's confusing because the college portions are adjacent to the blacker parts of Oxford.  Even those parts, though, are only about 40% black.  Unless Oxford 3 is shaped incredibly weirdly, my guess is that it contains Old Miss.  Otherwise it's hard to manage a 63-35 precinct in a town as white as Oxford, especially if the university precinct would be McCain +17.  It wouldn't make sense.  The town isn't white enough for the college to be Republican by 17 points.

Clemson, SC (Clemson) 72-26 McCain

I imagine it's the University precinct clustered with the Clemson and Calhoun ones.  Went 52-45 McCain after being 57-41 Bush.

Knox, TN (U. of Tennessee) 61-38 McCain

Ward 10 South votes within the university's boundaries, albeit at the northern end.  Still a predominately university precinct, it looks like.  Ward 10 North (I'm calling to ask someone about this) is the university neighborhood, and also has hospitals and stuff.  It's heavily white per the Census, but beyond that I know naught.  It was even heavier for Obama, 63-35.

Utah, UT (Brigham Young) 78-19 McCain

It's private, but...

Precincts Provo 8 & 11.  71-25 McCain.

This was, believe it or not, an amazing improvement over Kerry, who lost 84-15.

Stearns, Minnesota (St. Cloud State University) is another college county McCain won though Obama won St. Cloud proper by a margin very close to his national numbers and the college solidly.

We have a strong Young Democrats organization here in Arkansas, particularly the chapter at the University of Arkansas.

Manhattan, KS voted for McCain by less than 1%.
Oxford, MS voted McCain 52%-47%.
Norman, OK voted McCain 52%-48%.
Stillwater (OSU) voted for McCain, but % is unclear due to ambiguous precincts.
Knoxville, TN voted for Obama 53%-46%.
College Station, TX (Texas A & M) voted 65%-34%.
Lubbock, TX (Texas Tech) voted 66%-33% McCain, but Lubbock is a larger city than most university towns on this list.
Waco, TX (Baylor) voted 51%-48% McCain.
