Hopefully this is the appropriate forum to pose this question: what did you do during the campaign, volunteer-wise, donation-wise, ect.

I volunteered mostly for Mary Landrieu and Jim Harlan, the Democrat running in LA-1.  I knew in the latter race we didn't have much chance, but we were also calling for Landrieu along with Harlan some of the time so I figured it was worth it.  Both were mostly phone-banking, though I did canvas for Landrieu (and got lost for about an hour).

In some of the Landrieu/ Harlan calls, we asked about Obama support, but that was mostly an add-on question to find out how Democratic the person really was.  Did phone-bank into South Florida, but mostly ended up talking to answering machines.

What was your experience in the campaign?

The sole thing I did was fill out an absentee ballot and send it back to the States.

A little bit of local stuff, but not as much.  I put in probably about 50+ hours of work to defeat my mayor in 2007, but this year wasn't that important to me

Phonebanked for the Obama campaign in Missouri. I'm just happy we statistically tied there, seeing as it's been drifting G.O.P. now for a decade and more.

and that trend continued this year, regardless of Obama's relative strength.

Yeah, unfortunately. Though I feel confident that, if Obama has a good first term, we can get more votes out of the St. Louis area to overcome our deficit downstate. I should have put in more hours this year, dammit. >.<

I agree, yeah. Missouri could easily vote for Obama next time around, assuming a good first term.

I ran the campaign for a State Representative. We shared our office with all the other Democratic campaigns and our campaign wasn't very competitive, so we sort of de facto helped all the other Democratic candidates in Washington as well.

I also ran three precinct caucuses back in February and staffed the crowd control operation at a 12,000 person Biden rally in October. It was really a great year. Smiley

Hm.

-Volunteered for Obama during the Texas primary; don't remember for how long
-Donated $10 after Palin gave her speech
-Spent memorial day weekend in Columbus, Ohio canvassing for Mary Jo Kilroy and Obama
-Went down to Virginia to canvass for about 5 hours on three separate Saturdays
-Spent maybe 20 hours on the weekend before election day canvassing, lit dropping, visibilitying
-Sent in my absentee ballot
-Purchased a shirt; wore it around

posted on this forum and made electoral predictions, basically. Not really much incentive exists to do anything beyond that

Nothing much, just donated a little piece of my paycheck to the candidates I supported.

- bought a bumper sticker from the barackobama.com store way back in December '07 (counts as a donation)
- canvassed for Obama for the South Carolina primary
- attempted to convince everyone I knew to vote for Obama on Super Tuesday (even got my conservative mom to do so)
- did voter registration/canvassing work for Obama's general election campaign here in Barrow County, GA over the summer
- Canvassed for Cedric Richmond for LA-2 primary
- Donated a bit more money to Obama at some point
- Did some pre-election day phonebanking for Obama/Landrieu from the uptown New Orleans office
- Lit-dropped from 6:30-8:00 AM on election day for Obama, leaving sample ballots on the porches of some downtown neighborhood.

Worked my precinct to defeat a left-wing incumbent state representative in the primary election, and defeat Prop 202 in the general election.

Oh what haven't I done.  Managed senator and governor's social networking pages, edit email blasts, format excel spreadsheets, update candidate's websites with news stories..  Only thing truly disappointing was No On 8 since I had spent some hours friending people on Myspace and not friending the porn stars, alas.

Now working on getting Antonio reelected in LA, everyone should friend him. Smiley
