Not really, no. He could've just said no and been left totally out of all this. He put himself in the hands of Blago, and anyone who does that this late into the game MUST be nuts, but not pitied.

  No I do not feel sorry for him.

  He's a little bit loopy, but I do not see where he will do any harm.  Chances are his appointment will stand.  I do not see him running in 2010 to get a full term however.  I think his reputation has been harmed by hooking himself up to Blagojevich however.

Burris has a long, and if not distinguish, at least honorable, career.  I do understand as well that there is a need to preserve the constitutional order.

I feel very sorry for Burris, but wish Blago would resign.
