Sorry, EMILY's list isn't enough to overcome a 5-1 fundraising deficit, and when these sorts of ratios start to rain, well, soon it starts to pour. Note Portman's fundraising total too.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/scorecard/0409/Brunners_slow_fundraising_start.htmlThe Ohio Senate race is just getting started, but lieutenant governor Lee Fisher can claim a key early victory in the battle for the Democratic nomination.
Fisher raised about five times as much money in the first fundraising period as Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, who just reported her quarterly total. Fisher announced he raised $1.09 million, while Brunner only raised about $200,000 since announcing her candidacy.
Brunner’s total is one of the lowest so far from leading Senate candidates, and she will need to pick up the pace in the next quarter. She is expected to receive an endorsement from the women's group EMILY's List, which would help her future fundraising.
Meanwhile, Republican Rob Portman raised over $1.7 million in individual contributions in the first quarter, and has over $3 million in his campaign account.
