The new 111th Congress is underway.  It officially came in at noon EST today, January 3, 2009.  The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 with the swearing-in of the new Congress.

Any indication of what the new members' committee assignments will be? I have yet to see anything.

So does the 111th currently just include the 66 or so members who don't need to be re-sworn in?

I don't think they can do anything until the MN seat is resolved.

Why would only 66 members not need to be re-sworn in?

Coleman's term expired the 3rd so the seat is currently vacant, I believe.
