WASHINGTON, DC-- Sources close to President-Elect Obama, who have requested to stay anonymous, tell CNN that Obama met with Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts and candidate for the Republican nomination for President in 2008, today in Washington. The sources said that the meeting was related to the recent decision by Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico, to withdraw his name from consideration as Secretary of Commerce. Governor Richardson is currently involved in a pending investigation by the FBI.

LOL that this crazy idea is actually now backed up by news articles.

I think it'd be great. It's not like the commerce secretary does anything, of course.

DoC head's up the Natn'l Weather Service - that's important!  Tongue

Is it really rick-rolling if the people don't even bother to click the link?

Joe Biden should also withdraw. Barack Obama could nominate Romney as VP then. After he is confiirmed by Congress, Obama resigns and Romney becomes president... just the way it should be. Even someone like Barack Obama shouldn't try to stop destiny.

In keeping with his Team of Rivals theme, President Elect Obama should replace Richardson with Mitt Romney, who is eminently qualified for this job, providing Romney agrees not to seek the Presidency in 2012.

Romney would never accept, even if Obama offered him the position. Primarily as his already begun his campaign for the 2012 Republican Nomination, and he wouldn't want to interrupt his progress of wooing support to become the establishment's candidate. I can assure you if Obama is to select anyone as Commerce Secretary it will either be a Democrat or a nonpartisan.

I think Obama will probably reward someone from the left-wing propaganda machine, like, say, the head of Time-Warner.

Yes. He Should. Romney needs to build up his credentials, and what better place then the Commerce Department.
