I thought that in regards to this post on Greenwald.
He used to do serious investigative journalism that shed light on important issues the mainstream media barely covered. Some people formed their opinion of him at that stage, and refused to update it as he descended into every layer of anti-anti-Trump and anti-anti-Putin hackery until becoming just a third-rate GOP pundit. It's actually rather indicative of how a certain type of cognitive bias works.
It actually makes sense. A lot of people formed an opinion on Cuomo believing he was a hero for his pandemic handling. And then it was revealed his handling was actually murderous and the most deadly in the country. But cognitive dissonance refused to accept that. And then came the sexual harassment allegations. Again the cognitive dissonance broke in and refused to acknowledge them, so instead they had to invent the batsh!t excuse about some plot to get a Governor who would pardon Trump installed even though Occam's razor would show that's absolutely ridiculous and the fact that he's just scummy is far more likely. It makes sense.
Which doesn't mean that both people who cling to Greenwald and Cuomo shouldn't be condemned of course.
